GREASE IS THE WORD - BLECH~
May 17, 2008Well, what an interesting 24 hours! The boards are alive again - Boogie that is. They are even deleting their own threads already. Why is it I make a joke about Taylor getting married and the whole SP starts coming undone? I brought that up as a total sarcastic joke - I mean, come on! A few people in the meltdown thread on BB thought maybe this was an indication (the NY Grease thing) that he would be settling down and getting married. Where they come up with that I don’t know, but they do have so much “inside” information, one of them even asked if it was with CL, another if they were still together, (FUCKING SERIOUSLY)!! So much for Morph’s little tongue ‘n cheek humor. Hey, maybe he will fall in love with Frenchy and they will settle down in the Beauty Parlor from hell!
Ok, now let’s get to the real reason I’m up in the middle of the night with no sleep in sight and a long day ahead of me. TAYLOR IS GOING BROADWAY!
Hmmmm! Now when I heard the news, I was not in a place to hear that kind of news. I dropped my phone and went WTF. Bewilderment overtook me as well as sheer terror. Why on earth would he take a pit-stop on Broadway when he was supposedly in the middle of recording a CD, producing a DVD, and let’s not forget the “dreaded” international tour that was supposed to start in August? Couple that together with the assorted shows and charity events that conflict with his Broadway debut, and I had to wonder *shakes head*. Now nothing wrong with doing a Broadway show, but the timing I found to be curious. He has obviously known about this for quite some time, and been pondering whether to take the role or not. I doubt they called him up last week and said: “Tay, we got a great role for you, be ready to start in 2 weeks”. It doesn’t work that way. I worked Spamalot for almost a year and have worked other shows. Auditions, negotiations, rehearsals take time, people, lots of time. When we recast 4 majors for Spam we started auditioning 4 months before they left. It isn’t an overnight thing. Although it is just one song and he’s certainly not a “central” character, he is still part of a cast that has to rehearse with him and block with him and choreograph with him and sing with him. So the coordination of even one song is time consuming and lengthy. Well being Morph, and knowing Tay loves his head games and he loves to bs the SP and his fans, I just chalked it up to Taylor being Taylor. Keep ‘em guessing, feed them the best bullshit you can come up with and say the same shit over and over and they will just accept it. “If you build it, they will come”. Build what Tay? As GG so eloquently put it, the Svengali influence Taylor has had over many has been broken. The “real” fans who were under his spell have lost the perv and have woken from their trance. I know I have, Sexy, V and many others. That disintegration started with the Sham. Oh by the way, Happy Sham Anniversary Taylor! Hard to believe it’s been a year we’ve been listening to your bullshit and lies. Well the good part is we or most of us knew we were being bs’d, didn’t make it right, but makes it easier to take. GG, I will be addressing the Jonestown that was Taylorland in another blog and how we avoided the kool-aid and left our “hero” in the dust. The Captain IS supposed to go down with the ship.
Ok, back to Grease, I hate the play, hated the movie so that’s just me. My opinion, so his choice of shows made it even worse for me knowing now that his big news wasn’t gonna include any shows in the west now or probably not for a very very long time, so it did leave a bitter taste in my mouth. We were all expecting the revelation: he had been signed, there would be a CD, DVD(not), a tour, fall tour we hoped, some acoustic shows this summer, lots more charity events, whatever. But what do we get, Broadway, fucking a one song gig for 12 weeks in NY in Grease. Now I checked, Grease has been falling fast and is in major danger of being closed. A “big” name like Taylor’s would surely draw the reality crowd in. The leads (who are very good btw) are reality show winners too. It would draw the soul patrol (who I lovingly call the soup patrol now) in and the producers figure the loons will by tickets (well those on the east coast) and see the show over and over again. Others will just be curious and go see it. A win win for all. Taylor gets to wear angel wings (with Bill standing dutifully by waiting to hold them and hand him his sharpie). Bill, go see the movie “The Dresser” with Albert Finney, it’s old but still around, you will understand. Great movie, it might give you a hint what you’re in store for, and the producers get a boost in sales and get to deal with the loons in the theater.
Taylor in this role worries me for 2 reasons:
1. He can’t remember words to his songs. Even songs he has written himself.
2. In theater you can’t just change the song around to suit your mood. You throw the entire cast off and really cause some bad bad feelings with the cast and producers. It’s not a time to make a song your own. This isn’t Idol baby.
For those reasons, I am concerned, but of course it is his choice, his career and he will probably do very well with it. I hope he enjoys it, but I do believe the monotony of being on Broadway will get to him. IDK, it is tedious, boring and you wait a lot. You have to show up, can’t call in sick and you can’t be drunk or high on stage. You have to play well with others and work off of other actors. The cast becomes a family.
Cruise ships, wedding shows, charity events and now “Teen Angel” on Broadway, what a difference a year makes. What does the future hold? Who knows. I wish him well in whatever endeavours he undertakes. I don’t get it, most of us don’t. But second guessing Taylor is like putting a noose around your neck. If you pull too tight, you got problems.
Now for my grand finale, Taylor, if you were trying to shed the SP by doing a Broadway show and announcing it, I hate to disappoint. See the “real” fans won’t be traipsing to NY. Those who live there might, but those who live in the east and south always get to see you. You must know all their faces by now. You wouldn’t know us if we bit you on the ass. Hmmm, sexy? The loons have tickets to your opening night already. They will be lined up outside the theater to see you night after night. Once again, those smiling faces will be waiting for you after every show. I think they will tire of it as well in time, but get ready for a grand opening, put please Taylor, don’t do the Wooo and don’t shout out Soul patrol. If you want to be treated like a serious musician, then you gotta be the real Taylor, not the fake AI dorky Taylor. Get lots of security and make sure you move around a lot. I know how expensive NY is, 3k for roach infested one room hole. But get a system, maybe use the subway tunnels to map your routes. They won’t find you there, well, idk, some of em live there I think. Good Luck to you, and when you get back to the music, that is unless you find your Broadway star shining, think about us. We won’t be waiting, but we will check in from time to time to see what’s new in Taylorland.
Grease is the Word, not.

Oh boy! I get to leave the first comment.
How about we give Taylor the benefit of the doubt. From all indications, he’s really excited about doing the show.
So about 80 percent of his hardcore internet fans think this is mistake. So the hell what. I’m guessing the majority of his pre Idol fans hated the idea of him going on Idol. Too bad. Taylor does what he wants to do. Why can’t we give him the benefit of the doubt?
I thought, post Idol, that he would do GREAT in a musical. He has the showmanship to carry it off. So the critics crucify him. Big deal. They treat him like shit anyway.
How about we have a little faith in him. For God Damn once.
I’m tired of Taylor’s fans. Every single one of them has an agenda. Taylor should do this. Taylor should do that.
Guess what? Taylor is going to do what’s right for him. Too bad it doesn’t fit every fan’s agenda.
Go Taylor! If I had the money, I would go see him on Broadway. I think it would be way big fun.
Hey Taylor talk to us:
I am giving him the benefit of the doubt. I said go for it, have fun with it. I think he would rock in a revival of Bye Bye Birdie, in the lead as Conrad Birdie. I don’t like Grease, jmo. Most fans are just disappointed that the CD, DVD, tour he promised isn’t gonna happen. But you are so right, Taylor does what Taylor does. No problem here. I am just saying and voicing some opinions and thoughts.
Muah!
Taylortalktous, I have no doubt he will be awesome in this role. He will make the show I’m sure. I’m just hoping (praying) he doesn’t make it too cheesy, flamboyant, or gay……not that there is anything WRONG with that. LOL But seriously, the tabloids and critics will crucify him regardless. And somebody is going to get ahold of the strange Bill Will relationship. I, like all you, know they are BFF’s and Bill is the ass’t, and blah blah blah, but come on guys. Don’t you think they are taking this a little too far? I mean last I heard you don’t live with your assistants. I dunno, maybe you do.
And yes, Taylor will do what Taylor wants to do. I think we’ve all seen/heard first hand accounts on that one. And the reason he’s not announcing his new record deal is obvious. There’s not one yet. And this extra cash he’ll be earning over the summer will help in the release of his new CD if he does it on his own.
And yes, if I hear another Wooooooo or SOUL PATROL I will puke. And that goofy to the side move has GOT to go. Sorry guys, JMHO.
Wait, 12 weeks in NYC means he’s getting married? Is that really what they think?
Ok that blog entry was just uhhh….. brutal. I think this Broadway show is going to great for Taylor. He is totally a theatrical person. He thrives on that. He’s been an actor for years. Long before he was a paid preformer.
As far as him forgetting the lyrics… that could be a problem, but he changes a lot of things up simply because he chooses to and he can. It’s his gig he can do what he wants. This however is not his gig. He is just a small part in it. I think he has the sense to keep to the script.
First of all, Morph-I think you and I were seperated at birth-lmao- I thought I was the ONLY person on this planet that did not love love Grease. Never saw the play but saw the movie with ONJ and John Travolta many years ago. Didn’t see what the big fuss was about. So I am so there with you on that one. Secondly - I loved the comment about BW holding his wings- glad you liked that - seriously, what else is he going to do?? One of the Travelling Circus referred to BW in one of her many blogs detailing her 10,000 gigs to see Taylor- as Taylor’s Body Guard (I could NOT make that one up) and Manager- All I can say is God Help Taylor - if he is depending on BW for security and MANAGEMENT. And thirdly - this is a touchy one but I’m going to put it out there since I was told I could speak freely(thanks Sexy)- I was talking with a close friend a couple of weeks ago about the BW/Taylor relationship. And we dared to go there and we did - why ARE these two so joined at the hip?? Is there more to it? OMG - could there actually be something to the rumours- not that there is anything wrong with that (somehow saying that - makes it feel a little better - any Seinfeld fans here? I love the man and still grieve that show is gone). Anyway we kept saying but but but it CAN’T be- and honestly- I just don’t know. Sorry if I offend anyone but I just find it odd that BW is with Tay EVERYWHERE. But - hey - whatever floats your boat- I don’t think I believe there is really any “funny” business going on between them but I do find that pairing odd when it appears that BW is just Tay’s hard patying, getting high buddy and picking up one night stands. At least to those who have been around them - it appears that way. And I think this role on Broadway - especially if he wears “fluffy white wings” will just put more fuel on the fire so to speak. And I am sure I will get blasted by some who are not regular posters here for even saying this - but I know other people have had the same questions and starting to raise both eyebrows now. My perv has been gone - I will admit when I saw him in the Derby pics- he looked very hot but it was a very fleeting moment. To be honest the thing that has turned me off to Taylor more than anything and it is not his fault but I can’t help but connect the two - are his crazy, mean and soooooo over the top fans that think he is perfect and got postal when they first found out the man smokes. If they only knew
The goofy dorky Taylor is dead to me. I can’t stand that side of him now - I would rather see the dark pissy Taylor. And drunk and high. Yea- I’m perverted that way.
I hope I’m wrong about this - but I, too, read Grease is really struggling. I will be very surprised if it makes it to September and if Taylor hangs in there. He does have a way of pissing the wrong people off. And if I’m wrong - I will be the first to admit it. I’m sure the Soup (love it) Patrol will spend millions to see him night after night after night. Perhaps they will save the show and Taylor - God knows they will do whatever they have to to keep him there. Good luck with all that -I’d much rather see Cher in Vegas -saw her in concert a few years ago and love love her - awesome. Now that would be a trip worth it.
I remember exactly where and when I lost my perv. I had been losing it for quite some time but the NBA game Taylor danced and spent more time on the floor a few months ago did it for me. Sorry - when he came dancing on the floor with his shirt TUCKED UNDER HIS PANTS - and threw his head back - I was sitting on my couch saying over and over O M G- that was the whitest white man I have ever seen and the extra paunch didn’t help either. I’m superficial that way and yea it turned me off big time.
It’s sad when the thrill is gone. I feel like last year I was living in a fog-bewitched, bothered and bewildered - but Thank God - I came to my senses and it seems - more and more are joining us.
Ijustdon’tgetit….your post is EXACTLY why we have come together over here and abandoned the crazy boards and the crazy fans. Nothing you said would be offensive to the Orphan group.
My perv left basketball night also. It does come and go, and did come back during those damn derby pictures and of course listening to Lady with Spoonful was HAWT, but the Today Show segment was goofy as hell.
And Barbarella, of course I want to hear your comments. I can always count on you for your logical opinions and use of big words…..lol.
I was reading on Boogie today and got dizzy. I can’t get through it all. I have somewhat digested the announcement and truly hope Taylor knocks this performance outta the ball park 8 times a week. I do hope somebody sneaks a camera cuz I gotta see it.
Thanks to all who have made me feel welcome here. Personally, the relationship between Taylor and BW intrigues me far more than any relationship Tay could have with a chick.
And, I also wish him the best on Broadway. I would never want any harm for him but we all know the media has always ripped him. And I don’t profess to know what Tay thinks - but he strikes me- as some have said before - as someone who is stubborn and is going to do things his way and that’s fine with me. Now that I have absorbed the Grease thing - I really don’t care one way or the other. This is obviously something he wants to do and is very excited about it- so I hope for his sake it will be all he thinks it will be. He will have to have very tough skin to endure the brutal media - but then they have never liked him and I don’t think Tay really cares what they say. I just really hope he doesn’t wear white fluffy wings - just dress like Frankie Avalon did- I don’t think I can handle white flufy wings
When I heard he was going to be on ‘Grease’, my gut feeling was: hey, that will suit him. I could imagine him in Grease. I have never actually seen the movie (or the play) but I know many of the songs made famous by Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta. It’s a better fit for him in Grease than say, Spamalot, but Clay Aiken did well in that play. At least I don’t think the critics crucified him in it. I think Taylor could do well on Broadway, and I hope he does. I’m going to NYC in July and I doubt if I’ll be going to Grease but I wish him success in that role.
I’m ok with the Grease thing now. It has settled in my head I guess.
And the Bill Will thing is strange to me too. I mean, enough already….lmao!!
I truly don’t think there is anything to worry about with Bill Will and Taylor. I think Bill keeps him grounded, gets him to his appointments, and talks with fans. Bill is wonderful with Taylor fans, unlike Taylor. Bill is easy to talk to, chit-chats, takes pictures, mingles, etc. He’s a good yes man for Taylor.
But yes, I think it can be taken too far at times. If I hadn’t seen Bill Will with women with my own eyes (winks at Idon’tgetit) I might think something was odd, but I truly don’t think there is anything but friendship between the two. A strange friendship it may be, but only friends.
Now when the tabloids get a hold of this friendship, the shit may hit the fan. But so far, it’s quiet.
And how the hell do you get an avi picture over here. I hate that yellow box next to my name.
LMAO, you got the same one. We need to d/l an avi asap!!
Votem???
Hey Sexy,
If you sign up for wordpress at http://www.wordpress.com, you can download an avi for yourself. I do have an avi (the black lab dog) but for some reason it doesn’t show when I post but it could be because I have admin rights to the blog now…
This blog is too cynical for me. I don’t enjoy it anymore. With that said….
I’m thrilled Taylor is going to do a summer gig on Broadway and I wish him the best of luck.
Sorry Morph, but I just don’t understand why you are so negative towards Taylor all the time.
I agree with you, Sexy(winks back)- I really think Tay and BW like women way too much for there to be anything else- I just can’t really let my mind go there-And yes, BW is the perfect yes man and look at all the cool stuff he gets to do with Tay- I would love to be in Italy with the gang. But if they are always side by side in NY- some of the media are going to pounce on it- and I really pray that doesn’t happen. I think Tay is really a good guy - just one with alot of issues and a dark side - but hey - who doesn’t have issues? I certainly have mine and so does everyone else I know - thank heavens I am not under the scrutiny that Tay is and has been for 2 yrs. now. Being the private person he is - that has got to be really tough for him and I am trying not to judge him. When I first heard about Grease- I admit my jaw dropped and I almost fell out of my chair- but now that my brain has wrapped around the idea - it is Tay’s life and he has to do whatever he wants to have a good one. To be perfectly honest - I am past the point of really caring that much anymore. I am sure he will be fine-but I just have this knawing feeling there may not be another tour- hope I’m wrong - but even if there is - I don’t see how it can compare to 2007. Those were some good times
I agree with you Amy. It’s always so negative here. Ok, Taylor has made some mistakes but you keep harping on the issues over and over again and it’s just not fun to read anymore. I know this isn’t the mfoya site or anywhere near it, but they did not bash Taylor like this. But you guys do. This is just starting to read like a hate site, not a “keeping it real” site.
Amy, I totally agree. I’m full-on about criticizing Taylor and his fan base. I like that we’re able to do that here. I’m part of the dreaded SP. But I’m not all hearts and flowers. You know that, morph.
But, when everything Taylor does is met with a “He sucks and he’s wrong” attitude, I can’t be a part of it.
Loves ya morph, but I can’t do it.
It’s been fun…
